Writing great website content will get you the traffic and sales you need.
By writing effective web site content, I will be building a web site that pleases the search engines, answers knitters' questions and needs, and ultimately makes me money.
My starting point with every page I write is knowing the one thing I want my reader to do. One thing and only one thing per page. This can be difficult at times.
Every page's content will be centered around keywords that answer one question, fill one need, and that ultimately lead to the desired click. On my knitting site, I want readers to enjoy the pattern and either buy some recommended yarn or a book with design ideas.
When I sit down to write my pattern or book review, I need to focus on my reader. What is her problem? What does he need? What difficulty can I eliminate?
My pattern will have enough instructions for the beginner to feel confident and capable, and for the experienced knitter to feel challenged by learning a new technique. My book reviews will be interesting and will focus on what will pull the reader towards purchasing the books.
Links to yarn, bookstores, and a source for knitting bags will be on every page.
I'll also be writing occasional articles expressing my views on knitting to provide variety and inspire creativity.
By adding fresh original content, using profitable keywords, on a regular basis, the search engines will return often and my pages will eventually appear high up in search results pages.
This is half of the foundation of a profitable search engine optimized website. The other half is links back to my website from highly relevant sites already listed in the search engines. Finding these links is called backlinking, and is my next step in building my website.
