YouTube is taking the internet by storm. It is amazingly easy to add a video to your Publisher-For-You website.
My knitting website is a perfect venue for video instructions. It is so incredibly wordy to describe how to execute a stitch or a technique, and so easy to show how with a video.
My problem may or may not be a common one these days. Probably I'm one of the few people in North America who doesn't own a video camera, and who wouldn't know what to do with one if I did.
But I want to show people how to cast on knitting stitches. This is the very first step in knitting anything. It's essential. For years when I first learned how to knit, my mom cast on for me. Somehow, written instructions make it seem so mystical and esoteric. It's really quite simple when someone shows you, and when you can practice while watching, and pause and rewind as necessary.
Publisher-For-You once again makes doing exactly what you want to do easy and tech-free. Go to YouTube, find a video to suit your needs, and copy the Embed Code. Sign in to your Publisher-For-You control panel, click on Add Video, paste in your YouTube Embed Code, choose the size (5 sizes from very small to very large, and of course you can change your mind easily), and click Process. Then take the code that magically appears and put it exactly where you want it on your web page. You're done.
